Health Science Students Gain Hands-On Experience

Students in Mrs. Dorn’s Health Science class recently had the opportunity to step outside the classroom and into a real-world healthcare setting with a visit to a local nursing home. During the trip, each student was paired with a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to shadow throughout the day.

This hands-on experience allowed students to observe basic patient care, including daily routines, communication with residents, and essential healthcare practices. They gained valuable insight into the compassion, responsibility, and attention to detail required in the medical field.

Beyond learning technical skills, students also saw firsthand the importance of building relationships and providing comfort to those in care. The experience offered a meaningful glimpse into potential future careers while reinforcing the importance of service and empathy in healthcare.

We are grateful to the nursing home staff for welcoming our students and providing such a valuable learning opportunity.
