4th Grade Explores Volcanoes

Wardlaw Academy’s 4th grade students recently took their learning outside the classroom as they explored volcanoes and the science behind volcanic eruptions. Students learned about Mount St. Helens and what happens when pressure builds beneath Earth’s surface.

As part of their Junior Badge activities, students put their knowledge into action with a hands-on volcano experiment, and earned a badge for their work!

To bring their learning to life, students conducted their own volcano experiment, observing firsthand how a chemical reaction can create an eruption. The hands-on activity gave students an exciting way to connect their science lessons to real-world volcanic activity while practicing observation and scientific thinking.

It was an exciting day of learning, experimenting, and getting a little messy along the way!
