JV PATRIOTS VICTORIOUS IN SHOOTOUT WITH RIVAL KING

              On Thursday, the Wardlaw Academy JV football team played against rival King Academy in a thrilling contest. Wardlaw won the game 38-28. Leading the Patriots were 7th grader Gabe Cornwell, 8th grader Jason Boozer, and 6th grader Grayson Cornwell. All three of them had over 100 yards of total offense in the game and they each also scored at least 1 touchdown. Gabe Cornwell led the Patriots in rushing yards and had 3 rushing touchdowns in the game including a 55 yard run in the 2nd quarter. He also ran in from 37 yards and 26 yards in the 1st and 3rd quarters respectively. Younger brother Grayson Cornwell also had a big game with 99 yards rushing and a 61 yard touchdown run and he also led the team in receiving with a 13 yard reception from Ed Williams. Jason Boozer had his 1st 100 yard rushing game with 127 yards and an 8 yard touchdown run.

              With the win, the Patriots improve to a record of 2-2. Next week, the Patriots travel to Blackville to take on Jefferson Davis which will be the final game for 9th graders Kerry Cockrell, Eric Bittner, Russ Wilkes, and Justin Griffith.
