                 PATRIOTS VICTORIOUS IN SECOND CONTEST AGAINST CAMBRIDGE

              On Tuesday, October 6, The Wardlaw Academy JV football team played against Cambridge Academy at home and won the game by a score of 36-24. The game was quite thrilling, with much back and forth scoring throughout the game. Gabe Cornwell scored two touchdowns in the game. His first score came on an exciting 69 yard run in the first quarter to answer Cambridge’s touchdown early in the game. His second came on a 39 yard run in the second quarter. He led all rushers with 197 yards. Jason Boozer also had a great night with 120 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Boozer scored from 3 and 4 yards out and he also had a 22 yard touchdown. 6th grade quarterback Ed Williams had 9 yards rushing and also ran in a 2pt PAT. 6th grader Grayson Cornwell also had a respectable night rushing, with 69 yards on the ground.

                            Next Thursday, the Patriots travel to W. King Academy in Batesburg for the final game of the season.

PATRIOTS LOSE TOUGH BATTLE AGAINST CAMBRIDGE

On Tuesday, September 8th, The Wardlaw JV Patriots football team traveled to Greenwood to take on the Cambridge Academy Cougars. The Patriots lost a very close battle with the Cougars, 22-24. Cambridge scored all of their points in the 2nd quarter and the Patriots fought for a second half comeback. This game came down to the final minute when 8th grader Jason Boozer scored a one yard touchdown run to make the score 22-24. However, the Patriots failed to convert their 2 point conversion attempt. Boozer also scored on a 10 yard run in the 3rd quarter to pull the Patriots to within a touchdown. In his first JV game, 7th grader Gabe Cornwell scored a touchdown as time expired in the 1st half. He was also the leading rusher for the Patriots.

Next week, the JV Patriots are at home to take on W. King Academy.
