After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree, Mark attended medical school at MUSC in Charleston, SC finishing in 1982. Upon graduation, he then started his residency in family medicine at Roanoke, VA. After three years he completed the residency as chief resident. Mark then returned to Florence, SC to open and grow his family medical practice where he has been for the last 32 years. Mark says, “I feel that my preparation for the future was enhanced by Wardlaw. The teachers all took an active roll in helping to guide my future steps. I felt there was always personal attention if I needed it. My advice to all students is to have a passion for whatever they feel they wish to do in life. There are no wrong jobs but if you don’t love what you do it will get old in a hurry. Also, if you know what you want to do in life, sit down and really understand what that total commitment means in terms of your life goals. Hopefully no regrets, though there will be mistakes. Don’t let that stop you from your achieving your dreams.”
